The Adocentyn Research Library just reached 19,638 books in our collection, plus a Periodicals Room that is overflowing with the journals and newsletters of Pagan and magical organizations!  Remember, when we receive extra copies of books, they go up on the shelves in our public room as sale books to benefit the Library. Come and see!

 There are more tasks than the few of us can manage.  We need volunteers to take on the tasks of:

— interior art (planning, framing, and hanging; we already have a lot of art to put up)

— managing Adocentyn’s social media

— Library promotion

— grants

— planning and organizing events (we have a small, but usable space)

— gathering info for and assembling “recommended books” lists

If anyone feels so moved, we really need a glass, vertical display case that is roughly 9 1/2 inches deep by 34 inches wide and at least 6 feet tall.  (It could be a little deeper, but then it would have to be no more than 33 inches wide.)

New Acquisitions of note in January:

* Aristotle: A Graphic Biography -: a graphic novel of the life of Aristotle

* Griffinology – When was the last time you saw a book just on griffins?  It’s surprising how many cultures griffins appear in.

* Fairy Encounters in Medieval England – First line of the book: “Many people nowadays hope to see a fairy; many in the Middle Ages wished they never had.”  A fascinating academic study treating stories of fairy encounters at face value as eyewitness accounts and how they were understood in their culturest, without getting into whether or not they were “real”.

* Daniel Matt’s The Zohar (in 12 volumes) – The definitive English and Hebrew edition of this text.

* A Date with the Two Cerne Giants – Recent archaeological work on the Cerne Abbas chalk figure, dating it to Saxon times.

* The Steganographia of Trithemius – A classic magical text, finally available.

* Forbidden Oracles? – A fascinating book on the recent discovery of The Gospel of the Lots of Mary, a 5th/6th c. miniature Coptic Christian(?) divination book.  Includes a complete translation.

* The Oxford Handbook of the Egyptian Book of the Dead – A huge anthology of academic papers. Comprehensive.

* January also saw a massive influx of periodicals from Pagan groups!
