SUMMARY:Devotional Ritual to Inanna and Dumuzi
DESCRIPTION:Valerie Voigt and Ivan Richmond\, of COG member coven Waxing Moon Circle\, will be presenting online\, as part of the Pagan conference Ishtarfest\, a devotional ritual to the Goddess Inanna and the God Dumuzi. Inanna\, the most widely-revered Goddess in all of ancient Sumer\, held all the powers of civilization. Her consort Dumuzi was the patron of herding and agriculture. Inanna was also widely known under the name Ishtar\, whereby She was worshipped from Mesopotamia to Spain\, from Egypt to Britain. Offerings and prayers will be made and ancient sacred texts read\, with call-and-response singing. You may best participate in this virtual ritual by bringing your own food and drink offerings\, which may be eaten afterwards. Traditional offerings include lentils\, olive oil\, bread\, cream/milk\, beer and wine\, if you would like to also have some of those available. We will be reading aloud the hymn known as “The Holy One.” We consider this hymn family friendly\, but some parents may prefer that their children not hear references to prostitutes. Some children may enjoy the call-and-response\, while some may not. \n  \nThe reason this is not entered as a virtual event\, although it is one: the Zoom link will be sent only to those who register for Ishtarfest.

DESCRIPTION:Celebrate YULE with Covenant of the Goddess on Sunday\, Dec. 29\, 2024from 6 – 10 PM at BFUU Fellowship Hall\, 1924 Cedar St.\, Berkeley\, CA \n\n\n\nJoin us for a Wiccan YULE brought to you by Covenant of the Goddess and associated groups\, with the help of Spiral Path for the use of the hall. We will blend scripts from NROOGD and Fellowship of the Spiral Path\, including time for Pagan Yule songs. \n\n\n\nBring friends\, kids\, food to share…and a wrapped and labeled (kid or adult) Gift for the gift exchange (we will have a separate kid’s bag). These should be homemade\, low-cost\, or re-gifted.Donations for the hall’s costs are accepted. DESCRIPTION:The holiday popularly known as Halloween is the time of year known to witches as Samhain\, when the veil is thin between the worlds of the living and the dead. We gather to remember and honor our ancestors\, our Beloved Dead\, and all those who have crossed over. \n\n\n\nAs we mourn for those who have died this year\, we also mourn the losses and pain suffered by Earth\, our Mother. Yet even as we grieve\, we also remember and honor the sacred cycle of life\, death\, rebirth and regeneration\, celebrating the births of our children born this year\, and our own vital connections to Earth and each other…\n\n\n\nThis community event and fundraiser requires the support of many individuals.
